The course on European Copyright Law will provide an overview over European Copyright within the framework of the European Union and under TRIPS. It will analyze both the need for and the current state of actual legislative harmonization as well as the body of case law by the European Court of Justice, including the current strategy of the EU-Commission to regulate European Copyright by soft law. Issues of digital copyright and the interface with competition law will also be dealt with. Some national cases will be discussed as well in order to highlight the still diverging copyright landscape within Europe."
