This course will explore
theories, practices/skills and policies of modern conflict resolution, focusing
on foundational principles of negotiation and mediation and linking them to
advanced uses in consensus building, democratic deliberation and complex
dispute resolution. The course will use experiential and simulation methods for
practice, as well as readings, lectures and demonstrations. Examples will be
drawn from domestic and international contexts, including environmental,
community, legal, ethnic, and international disputes.
